Hello Family!!

September is here and we are almost 4 months in living here in Lima, Peru.

There's some special celebrations this month. Eliya's birthday is the 25th, and our marriage anniversary is the 26th. Eliya's turning 16 and we are celebrating 17 years of being married! God has been faithful.

Things are good with a few hard spots here and there, but we are always reminded that we serve a good and faithful God! In August we were in Fort Worth/Waco for a conference, it was great because we were able to see dear friends but also hard because we knew this time was going to be the last time that we wont see our friends and family for awhile. Jeremy was also able to make a quick trip to Amarillo to see his parents, which was a blessing. The conference was encouraging, the kids had so much fun being with their friends and we were also able to connect with other missionaries in Latin/South America.

After coming back from Fort Worth, the church here, Calvary Lima, introduced us to the congregation as missionaries and prayed over us. They introduced Jeremy as the men's pastor and overseer of the Outreach ministry. This Saturday, September 12th will be their 1st men's gathering in a long time. The men at the church are so excited to get back together again as they stopped gathering awhile ago. Jeremy will be sharing his testimony/teaching, and they will be eating and encouraging one another. Please pray for him. Jeremy has also been helping Carlos with ETRNL Waves, through his business of teaching people to surf Carlos, uses it as a door to be a light and to share the gospel. Jeremy has been going, trying to relearn how to surf and help Carlos on the ministry side and connect with the guys as they surf.

Sandra has started to get plug in a women's life group, which she loves. This group has a range of different ages and is a time for her to meet more ladies. Also Sandra's parents are here for a month. They got here the end of august and will be here till the end of September. Thankful for them and all the help they're giving us. Sandra's dad loves to cook, so he's been helping her with the cooking.

Our kids have been going consistently to the youth and we're still praying for friends. They are also taking Spanish lessons 2 times a week and that is going good. Now, just praying that they get the courage to speak it and practice it when out and about. Homeschool started the beginning of august and they are doing good. We are also taking them to a Co-Op homeschooling group and that has been great. These group of moms and dads are around 6 families and they do a once a month outing and take the kids to a learning/fun activity, all in english. Last time we went to a submarine and learn some Peruvian history. This Thursday we are going to a planetarium and learning about the planets and stars.

We also are taking them to some activities with Young Life so they can meet more people. Little by little we are finding community for them, if you could, please continue to pray for that...

Now that we have settled a little more here, this past week, we decided to renew our Peruvian drivers licenses. Sandra and I had them from before when we lived here but they were expired. But Sandra's parents told us that we can renew our license even if it expired less than 10 years ago. So we did, we were able to renew them without taking the drivers test. It was great, it just took a 7 hour process to get it... one of the things you have to do here to get your licenses is take a medical exam which consist of getting your blood type, a psychological test (yeah I know, crazy...), vision and hearing test, and an overall medical check up. Once you pass all that, then you can go get your license which was at another location. Such a long process!

Our house is slowly becoming our home. We are slowly decorating and making this house a more homey place where we can bring families and eat together. There's been great times of fellowship as we invite different families to our home, and we will love to do it more often. As time goes by we are trusting God is doing a work in and through us. We are learning how to be hospitable and love opening our doors to gather with others.

We love how God guides us to different seasons and how He always brings us to a place of total humbleness and awe for Him! We know that even through the hard times God is working and we know that we will see His promise in us and our kids as times goes by. We are so thankful for the journey that He is bringing us in and grateful for the people He brings along the way.

Prayer Requests:

Pray for unity in our family as we continue to adjust to life here in Peru, that we will trust God, and walk by faith.
Pray for God to lead us into godly friendships in Peru for our kids and us.
Pray that God will continue to prepare and equip us to do His work in Peru.
Pray for our kids, for peace and contentment as they trust God and walk by faith. Also for them to be able to see outward to God’s guidance and plan instead of inward to their fears of the unknown.
Pray for Jeremy as he has his first men's gathering and leads the men's ministry.
Pray for Sandra's parents as they stay with us for this month, to be a time to make great memories with them.
