Hello Family!!
We are writing a short update before we take a short trip to Fort Worth. We have been in Lima, Peru for almost 2 months.
The reason we're flying back to the states is because we have a missions conference we are required to attend. This missions conference was supposed to happen in March in Mexico but got cancelled because of some riots happening at that time, so they moved the conference to Texas. We are excited to see all our friends/family but at the same time a bit discouraged to have to stop and pause our time here in Lima.
This past month has been a bit hard, trying to adjust to the culture, the language, and going through the pace of living in a different country. Something we know we would go through at some point... I think its been harder this time because now we have kids and are concern with their day to day. It has been hard trying to fit in, finding friends that we can connect with, and learning the different ways people do things here. We have been struggling in our own ways, but we are trusting God with all the ups and downs, trusting He is doing a good work in and through us.
As a family we have been learning the word resilience; the ability to adapt, recover, and "bounce back" from stress, adversity, or trauma. God is our strength, our Rock who we lean into. Please continue to pray for friendships, deeper connections, and for the kids to learn the language fast.
On another note, we are excited to share that we have found an apartment, its in Miraflores, which is close to the beach, which has been a blessing (in the photos you will see a picture of our place). Some of the blessings is that it's a very easy access to go for runs or walk around (great for our dogs) people here run A LOT!! Also, it is has a pretty big living room area where we can have life groups, reunions with friends and church related gatherings. We are excited to see what the Lord has in store for us, right here where we call, "our home."
Now that we have finally settled a bit, and got our home in order, once we get back from our conference, "la Chamba" begins (Spanish slang translation: The work). Continue to pray for Eliya and Ezra as they continue to go every Friday to youth and for them to make lasting friends...
Also please continue to pray for the "Remanente" ministry. This ministry goes to those hard places where there's people struggling with addictions and brings them to a safe place where they can, not only have their physical needs met, but also they get to learn about God's word and love for them. 2 out of 4 of the guys that went to the safe house this past month to get clean and learn of Jesus left the safe house and went back to their old ways. Pray for them to desire more of God, and for the enemy to be defeated in their lives.
We also got to see Sandra's uncle that we haven't see in over 10 years. He invited us to the circus. It was an amazing time with our kids. This circus doesn't have animals in it, it is prohibited to have animals in circuses in Peru. Thankful for this times of laughter and family. One of the cool things is that Sandra's uncle has been doing theater for over 40 years and something he does every Friday, is invite kids that live in a poorer area, who's family situation aren't the greatest and he teaches them theater. In one of the photos you will see us with her Uncle and the kids. He does not know the Lord, so please be praying that the Lord would use us to see him turn to Jesus!
Truly thankful for all of you guys that are part of team Peru!!! We are in this together and really thankful that we have an army of people praying for us and our kids!!!
